About Us
Well, it's not really about us. It's about Him and what He is doing in us!
Church of the Open Door International had been around since the early 80's through church planting efforts of Pastor Bob Burns and other ardent followers of Christ. They had a vision to reach the City of San Francisco which involved evangelism and literature distribution. These young people, mostly single, made a priority of sharing their faith wherever they go. To the glory of God, their "cold turkey" evangelism touched many lives and the church was established. In the early days the church emphasized prayer meetings on Friday nights and evangelism on Saturday mornings. These were the driving forces of church growth. We still subscribe to the importance of these early efforts, but with demographical changes resulting from starting families we've had to modify our approach. Now a second generation of believers are helping lead the way to yet more fruitfulness in our minsitry, and the Great Commission as stated in Matthew 28:19-20 remains the reason for why we exist.
We have the word "International" in our name because we have planted churches in the Philippines which continue to thrive. Just recently a new campaign to reach yet another part of the Philippines was initiated. We are blessed to participate in what God is doing, not only in our land, but overseas as well.
