Our History
Church of the Open Door International started in a house in 1981 through church planting efforts of Pastor Bob Burns and other dedicated followers of Christ. They had a vision to reach the City of San Francisco which involved evangelism and literature distribution. These young people, mostly single, made a priority of sharing their faith wherever they went. In 1988 Pastor Ricardo David took over as pastor of the church and he has been serving in that position ever since. The church has rented many facilities over the years, mostly in San Francisco. Property in San Pablo, where we currently worship, was purchased in 2006.
Someone may ask why we have the word "International" in our name. By God's grace we have helped establish churches in Philippines, the mother country of most of our members, all of which continue to thrive. Just recently a new campaign to reach yet another part of the Philippines was initiated and the beginnings of a new church are visible. We are blessed to participate in what God is doing, not only in our land, but overseas as well.
